Malaysia’s First Dedicated Helpline for Children and Teens

Buddy Bear is a free, anonymous, and confidential emotional support helpline for children and teenagers in Malaysia, aged 6 to 18. It is a safe space where young people can speak openly about what they’re feeling or going through without fear of being judged.

📞 Available every day
🕕 From 6PM to 12AM
📍 Nationwide (Malaysia)

Buddy Bear was created to be that someone who can be a trusted and caring listener, who is ready to help listen, even if it’s just to talk about a rough day or a small worry.

Because in a child’s world, even the small things can feel very big.

How Buddy Bear Helps

When a child or teen contacts Buddy Bear, they are connected with a trained volunteer who listens with care and respect. These volunteers use Psychological First Aid (PFA) — a simple but powerful method that helps provide comfort, reassurance, and emotional support in moments of distress. The goal isn’t to fix everything, but to help the caller feel heard, safe, and less alone. Buddy Bear creates an environment where it’s okay to talk, cry, or just sit in silence for a moment. It encourages emotional expression and supports children in navigating their feelings in a healthy way. Whether they are struggling with something serious or just feeling overwhelmed, every child deserves a space to be understood.

Who Answers the Calls?

The Buddy Bear helpline is staffed by trained volunteers who are equipped to offer immediate emotional support. They are kind, patient, and non-judgmental. Every conversation is treated with respect and confidentiality. These volunteers are not there to diagnose or give advice, their role is to simply be present, to listen, and to remind each caller that they are not alone.

Why It Matters

Many children and teens carry emotional weight silently. They may not feel comfortable speaking to adults in their lives or might believe their problems aren’t important enough. Buddy Bear is here to remind them that every feeling matters. The helpline ensures that no child has to face their emotions alone, especially outside of school hours when other support might not be available.

This is more than just a helpline. It’s a step toward creating a more compassionate, responsive environment for children’s mental health.

Buddy Bear exists because every child and teen deserves to feel safe, supported, and heard. No matter what you're feeling, it’s okay to talk. It’s okay to ask for help.
